As the weather changes, so does your motivation to workout. You see the leaves falling off the trees, the days getting shorter, and your couch looking sexier than ever. But how do you overcome the funk of not wanting to hit the gym and train? Sitting in your house, watching Netflix, and eating some hot chili sounds so much more attractive than venturing out into the cold to your nearest gym. I don't blame you! But, you owe it to yourself to not undo all the good you have done so far. And for those who haven't even started, well, now is the time to start. Your summer body is made in the winter time. Here are some tips for those who dread trudging to the gym in cold weather.
Remember to warm-up - It's cold outside, and muscles get tight. Walk on the treadmill or run in place to get the blood pumping.
Who needs weights! - If you feel the need to skip the gym, then do bodyweight exercises from the comfort of your home. This can be jumping jacks, push-ups, dips on a low window ledge or chair. Fitness can be done anywhere
Can't stop, won't stop - If bodyweight exercises bore you, then you can spend some time figuring out how to make an exercise out of your chores. Take that broom and do the motion continuously. You'll burn calories, and your floor will be flawless.
Changing the game - Next time you play board games, cards, etc. with your family or friends, add a fitness twist. Instead of paying for landing on someone's property in Monopoly, make them do pushups or burpees on the spot (and then give you cash).
Winter time fitness can be fun, so make it your own. Don't let yourself down by becoming lax! Stay thirsty my friends...thirsty for the gains.
